Kate Forest Art
Kate Forest (she/her/any pronouns) is a 27 year old mixed Indigenous neurodivergent Multidisciplinary Visual Artist, Performer and Instructor who pulls heavily from Newfoundland and Labrador’s history, Indigenous teachings, and the importance of community in their work. Kate is a member of the NunatuKavut Community Council.
She grew up in St. Lewis, NL and currently lives in St. John’s, NL where she sells her art out of her home. Kate’s visual arts practice includes acrylic paintings, beading, Caribou tufting and hand stitched art pieces, textiles and jewellery, among other things. Her self-taught artistic expression reflects both her deep love of nature and cultural reclamation. Kate has taught many traditional crafts to both the St. Lewis and St. John’s Community, creating a traditional crafting program at First Light Friendship Centre in St. John’s and has been applauded for their facilitation skills.
